			Think of every superlative, put them side by side and it still would scarcely describe the legendary style of Tejano monarch, Ruben Ramos. Perhaps "indescribable" is a more appropriate description of "El Gato Negro," a nickname given to Ruben by adoring fans that derived from his most favored song early in his career. El Gato Negro has definitely made his mark. Ruben's road to success began almost 30 years ago when he decided to take the risk of leaving his stable life of computer programming to pursue his greatest love...music. With exhilarating highs and depressing lows along the way, he has proven to be one of the most talented, charismatic and vivacious performers in the industry today. His career began in 1971 when he formed a group known as the "Mexican Revolution." This took place at the height of the Chicano movement in Texas, a time of awakening among Texas-Mexican youth and a time of asserting their presence in this country. The Mexican Revolution made their presence known by performing anywhere and everywhere to support their movement in the industry. By 1981, with 10 years of experience under his belt and when the notion of a Tejano identity among Texas Latinos began to develop, he formed the ever so popular super group, "The Texas Revolution." Though an omnipresence in the 1970's, it was questionable whether Ruben could survive as a popular recording artist in the 1980's. Refusing to relinquish the art form he created by the use of "real" instruments, he somehow found a way to incorporate the style he's so well known for and combine a new, "jazzy" flair. The new style was not only accepted but admired as he propelled himself to the top of the industry. With innumerable performances, as well as 30 plus recordings, he earned Tejano World acceptance and recognition winning honors at the 1987 Tejano Music Awards.
