In 1970 Freddy retired from performing to go into the management end of the record business. A year later, however, the first rock 'n' roll revival show was held in Madison Square Gardens and he was invited to be part of the show. When Freddy went into a litany of his old hits, more than 20,000 fans screamed their approval and at the same time convinced him that he should be performing full time. Since then Freddy has been booked solid all over the country as the rock revival craze continues. Freddy has appeared on all of the major TV talk shows. He has performed his songs on "Solid Gold," "American Bandstand," "Where the Action Is" (that's Freddy singing the theme song). Freddy has appeared in several movies, including "Just for Fun" and the cult classic "Village of the Giants" starring Ron Howard, Tommy Kirk and Mickey Rooney, Jr. He has been in most of the rock and roll specials in the current years, including "Rock Rolls On" and Dick Clark's 25th and 30th Anniversary shows. Freddy has been doing Dick Clark's live "Good Ol' Rock 'n' Roll" shows since 1974. The major influences on Freddy's career have been Big Joe Turner and Chuck Berry. |
